1. A cereal bar contains 8.4 g of fat. The recommended daily amount of fat is 70 g. What percentage of the daily recommended amount of fat does the cereal bar provide?
2. A tin of soup contains 3.6 g of salt. The recommended maximum daily intake of salt for an adult is 6 g. What percentage of the daily maximum is in the tin of soup?
3. A portion of breakfast cereal provides 4.5 g of fibre. The recommended daily amount of fibre is 30 g. What percentage of the daily recommended amount does one portion provide?
4. A GP surgery vaccinated 840 out of 1,000 eligible patients against flu. What percentage of eligible patients were vaccinated?
5. In a school year group of 240 pupils, the flu vaccination was offered to all pupils. 192 pupils accepted the vaccination. What percentage of the year group was vaccinated?
6. An NHS trust aims to see 95% of A&E patients within 4 hours. One month, 17,100 out of 18,000 patients were seen within the target time. Did the trust meet its target? What percentage were seen within 4 hours?
7. A health centre has 4,200 appointments available each month. In March, 336 appointments were missed without notice. What percentage of appointments were missed?
8. A person's maximum heart rate is 180 beats per minute (bpm). During a fitness test their heart rate reaches 135 bpm. What percentage of their maximum heart rate is this?
9. Guidelines suggest that moderate-intensity exercise should keep your heart rate at 50% to 70% of your maximum heart rate. A person's maximum heart rate is 195 bpm. What is the target heart rate range for moderate exercise?
10. In a fitness test, a class of 30 pupils completed a beep test. The table below shows the results. 14 pupils reached level 5 or above. Express this as a percentage of the class.
11. After 6 weeks of a fitness programme, a pupil improved their press-up score from 20 to 26. Calculate the percentage improvement in their score.
12. A patient recovers from illness in 8 days. Their doctor had predicted recovery would take 10 days. What percentage faster than the prediction did the patient recover? Give your answer to the nearest whole number.
13. Guidelines recommend that children do at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. 60% of children in a survey of 800 pupils did not meet this guideline. How many children in the survey did not meet the guideline?
14. A sports club has 350 members. At the start of the year 14% of members did not renew their membership. How many members did not renew? How many members remained?
15. In a county, 2.4 million people are registered with a GP. Of these, 18% have a long-term health condition. How many people in the county have a long-term health condition?
